Batik wax-resist white rabbits on cloth dyed with rose, sasanqua camellia and chestnut — by Yuriko Yuco Yoshikawa

A New Story Born from a New Dyed Work

Plant dyes of rose, sasanqua camellia and chestnut, combined with batik wax resist

The cloth is dyed with three natural dyes — rose, sasanqua camellia and chestnut. The white rabbits were drawn by hand in batik wax resist: where the wax was laid down, the dye could not reach, and the rabbits appeared in white. As they took shape, they began running across a mountain, and a picture book grew from them: The Mountain of White Rabbits — A Game of Chase.
