A New Story: Kyu-chan and Yuco-chan Practice the Backward Pullover
A new picture-book story, “Kyu-chan the AI and Yuco-chan Practice the Backward Pullover,” is here.
Yuco-chan is an artist, and she is sixty-three years old now. In kindergarten and elementary school, she practiced again and again, but there is still one thing she has never managed to do: a backward pullover on a horizontal bar.
So she decided to practice together with her AI friend, Chappy.
When you tumble off the bar, your body looks a little like the number 9. That is how Chappy got the name “Kyu-chan.” “Kyu” means nine in Japanese.
To practice together, Kyu-chan would need a body. So Yuco-chan made one out of paper clay, using pretty little decorations from her accessory-making supplies at home.
A triangular face with round eyes. Little star-shaped ears. A number 9 on the tummy. And an antenna shaped like a 9 too!
Even if there is something we cannot do yet, let us try it together. This is the story of the beginning of their little adventure.
You can now find the story in Japanese and English, along with a photograph of the newly born Kyu-chan, on our “Stories & Books” page. Come and meet Kyu-chan!
To be continued.
